Sicilian Pistachio & Citrus Meringue

Caffè Panna makes superb ice cream. I have eaten lots of ice cream here and my favorites have included  Brown Sugar Peach and Rum Raisin. Special flavors often lace the Sweet Cream base that run the gamut from nostalgic American candy, shortbread and even slices of pie from Four & Twenty Blackbird are created from the vivid imagination of owner and chef Hallie Meyer. The only drawback is that these are usually not repeated or sometimes return in different renditions.  Last week Sicilian Pistachio and Citrus Meringue were flavors that I asked to be packed side by side so that I could get both in a spoonful. It was heavenly and made me swoon with pleasure. I have planned to become a sandwich man standing in front of the ice cream store on 19th Street & Irving Place broadcasting for these two flavors to be made again. Maybe Hallie will relent?
